INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SITE

Who's the Geeza behind this website?

That's me - Lee and live in the UK.

At the moment there is nothing I gain from this website other than having my own expression on the net. That is - if I ever get it halfway completed anyway.

This site has been active for just over a year so there is plenty more stuff to come yet. If you've liked what you see please sign my guest book (if itīs working - for some reason itīs very temperamental) or drop me an e-mail or something. Would like to know what people think and answer questions. I like to connect with people on similar subjects.

Being from the UK the history of events and names etc are from this perspective so there maybe one or two discontinuities.

Why I wanted to do this site / what is it's purpose

I've been playing games for a long time on consoles and computers. Games on Sega machines were my favorite because of that pick up and play feel with them; games like Sonic, Wonder Boy and Space Harrier for example.

After first been hooked up to the net and seeing some fan sites about some of my all time favorite games I decided I'd like to have a go too.

I had some ideas what I wanted to do a site on. Originally the plan was to have a small but complete site but the subject I couldn't decide. After toying with a few ideas I didn't want to omit anything and ultimately I decided to do a few pages on lots of things that I like. As a result there is loads of work left to do and there will always be things going on.

Basically I want to the articles to invoke the thought of "I remember that game!" but I did't know that about it."

So why do stuff about old games?

As technology in consoles advanced many games in my opinion did not. Don't get me wrong, there are some brilliant games from this age yet for me they lack the pick up and play feel to them games had many years ago. Developers seem to pay more attention to visuals rather than the gameplay. Whether thatīs down to just advances in processor power alone I'm not sure.

And as far as coverage or modern games go there are loads of big corporate sites that handle those in this age.

So on the games you show us nearly all the game but not how to do it.

This is intentional. The theory is that I show you what's in the game but if I tell you how to do it then that takes all the fun out of playing it. I'll probably change this in the near future and switch to full game guides in addition to articles/features.

Updates

Ideally I'd like to be updating a few times each month but at the moment thereīs little time for this so I update as often as I can which tends to go about once a month.

I'm working on bringing in the use of PHP and CGI etc to make things a little more automated around here. I'd also like some visual effects about the place too.

What are the plans for this site?

Ultimately the plan is to have pages on many things that I like whether it be TV programmes, games or whatever else comes along. I want to have some good content like interesting articles and especially sound clips which tend to appear on the net in bad quality.

Iīm by no means a professional website builder and as such the presentation of the site will be pretty low tec - unless of course someone offers to help. Improvements will come with time.

Using Stuff From this site

Please ask for permission if there is something that you would like to use. Just send me an e-mail... you'll find I can be quite accommodating. All I would ask in return is for a link and a mention.

More Stuff for this site

I'm always on the look out for more stuff that I can add. At the moment I need some more graphics and I'd love to make a logo for site. I'm always reviewing the pages for little tweaks here and there and any new ideas/additions that come to mind.

Real materials like case scans, magazine articles and adverts etc are always welcome. At the moment I have very limited sources of materials. If anyone can help then by all means.

If there is something you would like to see on this site or ideas for improvement then tell me. I may have already planned it.

I want to be able to put some sound tracks to games on. This is one of my big plans.

How was this website made?

I write all my own HTML code in Ace Expert. It does a good job of keeping things tidy so it can be glanced at and understood quickly whatīs going on. Most pages consist of HTML 4 (now being replaced with XHTML1.1) and CSS with Javascript on others.

Text was done in Word (naturally) and image work was done primarily with Adobe Photoshop but Paint Shop Pro was used for one or two things even though it's crap.

For now it's tested using Internet Explorer 5.5 and above with a working resolution of 1024x768 but should scale down without too much trouble. Other browsers such as Netscape and Opera will be tested for compatibility soon.

I worked on keeping the content as optomised as possible without breaking the idea I set out with. Originally this was because I only had 15MB of web space and more importantly to keep things quicker for 56K'ers.

Mentions

I'd like to thank the various people who I ask and have asked for advice over the years especially those who offer constructive criticism and not just take the piss.
